In Kerala, it is the festival celebrated with most number of cultural elements and is reminiscent of Kerala’s agrarian past, as it is considered to be a harvest festival. ‘Ponnavani’, the Onam celebrations at AIM, was inaugurated by Dr.V.S.Sadanandan, Vice-Principal, St.Albert’s College, by lighting the traditional lamp. He said that the Onam is the most sensitive emotion of each and every Malayali and they celebrate it with joy and pleasure. Onam celebrations in educational institutions has become more attractive with many cultural events, but at times it goes beyond control, he said.
