A one day seminar on ‘Corporate Governance-Myths and Realities’ was held in our institute on 22 July,2013. Corporate Governance is a way of life that necessitates taking into account the shareholders’ interest in every business decision .The seminar explored the various facets of corporate governance like ethical corporate behaviour, corporate governance initiatives in India and abroad, corporate governance failures and corporate governance-myths and realities.
Rev. Fr. Antony Arackal, our Manager, inaugurated the session by lighting the traditional lamp. Our Director, Dr. Rajagopala Nair, welcomed the gathering and Dr. Francis Cherunillam, Founder Director of AIM felicitated the gathering.
Mr. Rejie George Pallathitta, Associate Professor, IIM, Bangalore in his keynote address enlightened the audience on different related areas like internal and external mechanism of corporate governance, concentrated and dispersed companies, ethical corporate governance, etc.
The technical sessions that followed was chaired by Mr. Sajeev C.S., Asst. Professor, AIM. Delegates from different B-schools presented papers and deliberated on topics like corporate social responsibility, Indian value systems, the legal aspects of corporate governance, etc in the technical session. The institute wishes to congratulate Mr.Ashique Hussain, Ms.Dimple Varma and Ms. Geethu C.A. for presenting a paper on ‘Corporate Governance and its Applicability in Indian Scenario’
The valedictory address was delivered by Dr. Cyriac Mathew, Vice Principal, St. Albert’s College. Certificates were also distributed to the participants during the valedictory session.
